EPC Direct invest in Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 12-P

After leading the way in print colour management for several years, EPC has taken the next big step forward by taking delivery of a new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 12-P.  With a sheet size of 105 x 72.5cm and costing a cool £4.2m, the new press is the first of its kind in the country and has the highest levels of automation in sheet-fed offset.

Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 12-P technological advancements include:

Prinect Inpress Control, the press automatically measures and controls both colour and register of each printed sheet.

Fully automatic plate loading, leaving the operator free to carry out other tasks helping to reduce make ready times.

Intellistart, guides the operator through the job preparation stage and creates a new list of operations that need to be carried out for each job change. Intellistart then works through these if possible at the same time, thereby fully exploiting the machine's level of automation. This lowers the number of operations necessary by up to 70 percent, boosts operating reliability, and cuts set-up times.

Taking all these technological advances into account we can reduce our set up times from about an hour to just six minutes.  The resulting economies from less waste and greater productivity mean there is no lowest limit on run length; process colour jobs with a fifth special and seal both sides can be run through the press in one pass at 15,000 sheets an hour.
